The Highliner Pub has been a landmark and a party destination in Seattle for years.
Tucked between
the net sheds and the marina, the Highliner takes up the southeast
corner of the Port of Seattle's Fishermen's
Terminal,
home of the famous
Fishermen's Memorial statue, raised in honor
of fishermen
who have lost their lives at sea.
The Highliner offers great pub fare. The Galley also stocks an impressive list of ales,
beers and wines.
A corner stage showcases local and touring musicians and
entertainers who love to perform
at the Highliner...
and there's
even FREE off-street parking!
The Highliner Name - The term highliner is used by fisherfolk to describe anything
that is the best of its kind.
Historically, Highliner is the name fishermen have given
to a ship that is returning to port with a catch so heavy
that the ships rides low in the water raising the water line so a highliner.
When a ship is a highliner, it's carrying its crew into port for celebration of the
catch and
of freedom from
grueling labor and the confinement of sea life.
